Welcome to Flex It Fridays.
Here you’ll find a space for the beautiful, the strange, the delightful and weird. Fridays mean rest, party, or escape from the routine, but especially for attending to those things we might otherwise miss. Enjoy!
Today’s Flex is a love letter to architecture and interior design.
One of the things I most appreciate about this art form is how we can tell stories about our lives through the physical spaces we design and inhabit. If we do it right and well, they can become, as designer Jeremiah Brent calls them, the “spaces that keep us.”
Granted, good design doesn’t always come cheap, but that’s when Instagram can do something good. It helps us encounter and learn from those who’ve cultivated a strong sense of line, shape, form, space, texture, tone (or value), and color. The brand Zia Tile proves to be masters of this.
How can you resist this glorious mixture of greens and yellows, stripes and checks?
Or these fantastic terrazzo globes that beg for a game of hop-scotch (or Twister)…
The moody simplicity of this fireplace hearth…swoon…
Or possibly the best bathroom ever.
Zia Tile shares their own designs, others’ work, and inspiration on the daily. So check it out, get lost in design, and be inspired to add some beauty to the space that keeps you.
Let’s be hopeful, creative, and wise—together.
Shalom,
